Frequently Asked Questions

Your B&B sounded delightful until I read that you are still under construction. How "unsightly" is it? Well, that depends on the viewer. We have had guests all through our ten years of construction and they always goe away raving about how beautiful it is here. The buildings, even though unfinished, always delight folks who are interested in adobe and straw-bale construction. We have tried to be specific about what to expect, but if the list of discounts sounds like a mess to you, perhaps you should wait. You can expect lovely, finished, clean sleeping rooms and bathrooms, a refreshing view and a tasty breakfast.

Can I bring my dog? From experience we have to answer no. Hummingbird has a resident dog and two cats that you can enjoy during your stay.

I'm allergic to cats. Have any been in the sleeping rooms? We have not allowed any animals in our guest rooms since they were completed.

My diet is very restricted, can I still breakfast with you?  Please let us know your restrictions at least three days before your arrival and we will do our best.

Do you take credit cards? Ahead of your stay we can send an email invoice which you can pay securely on-line. However, your personal check is preferred.

I'm extremely sensitive to poison oak/ivy. Is it growing there?. Yes, lots of poison oak! It's easy to avoid if you stay near the buildings.  If you are camping here it's good to know what to look for.

I've never been to Oregon. Is it as rainy as I've heard? We are located very near the California boarder and it does not rain much between June and September, if at all. In mid-summer it can be quite hot, but it usually cools in the evenings. Plan your clothes for layering, and don't forget your swim suit for the river or lake!

If we come for a workshop, is lunch included?  Yes! This will usually be a fresh summer salad, a sandwich bar with homemade bread, a beverage and homemade sweet. A cafe is located less than a mile away, and of course you are always welcome to bring your own lunch.

Can folks camping out for a workshop buy breakfast at your B & B? Yes, but you must request and pay for this when you register. The cost is $10 and usually includes home-made breads and jams, farm-fresh eggs, fresh fruit, yogurt and beverages.

Do I have to pay to sleep in the back of my truck/RV during a workshop? Not if you won't be using the studio bath, water or electricity.

When camping can I use a small butane stove to make coffee in the morning? NO! Please re-read our policy about open flames, which includes small camp burners.  There is no way to adequately express the fire danger here in the summer. Coffee and tea is served as part of the workshops.
